Make these with any cream cheese combo you want! I’ve made them with just cream cheese or cream cheese and your favorite jam. Super flexible!
1 package of puff pastry
10 oz cream cheese (softened)
3 1/2 cups of sugar
Defrost your puff pastry (may take up to 40 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a standing mixer, mix 1 1/2 cups of sugar, cream cheese and egg.
Unroll the puff pastry and stretch. No specific size just make sure it’s an even rectangle.
Using pizza cutter (or a knife), divide the dough in three equal parts. Cut threads on outer parts. See image below.
In the middle panel, spread jam (if using jam) and cream cheese mixture. Be careful not to overfill it.
Overlap one thread over the other.
In a small bowl mix one egg with 1 tbsp of water. Brush all over pastry. Add decorative sugar if desired.
Baked for 40 minutes or until golden.
While pastry bakes, make the simple syrup by boiled 1 cup of water with 2 cups of sugar until dissolved. Once it boils, remove from heat and let it cool.
Once the pastry is ready, cool to room temperature.
Once cool, brush with simple syrup.
